I love that you are now able to customize your iPhone home screen to make it more your own. Things are just so much more satisfying to me when they are aesthetically pleasing! How to perfectly customize your iPhone home screen to match your background is so easy! I like to make my app icons color coordinate with my background, and it just creates the perfect home screen!

How To Perfectly Customize Your iPhone Home Screen
First of all, you will need to have the app Canva downloaded onto your phone. I use the free version.
Then you will need to set your wallpaper to whatever your heart desires!
Use Canva To Create App Icon
1 | Open the Canva app and type “ios” in the search bar, as shown in image 1. You will then choose the ‘Blank’ template option.
2 | This is the trick to getting your app icons to match your background perfectly! Upload your wallpaper to Canva. As you can see in the 2nd image, I have uploaded my pink flower background.
3 | Select your background image to add it to your project. It will show up on your screen just like in image 3. Now, click on the background and select ‘color’. As you can see on the bottom of image 3, it shows “Photo Colors”. This is how you get that perfect look!
I like to mess around with the colors and see what looks best. I like to use a variety of colors with the different app icons that I create!
4 | Select the plus button and choose ‘elements’. Here you can search for whatever design you would like on your icon. This can be seen in image 4.
5 | For this first icon, I was creating it for the ‘clock’ app. Once I designed the app icon exactly how I wanted it, I clicked the download button and saved the photo to my phone. You can see the example in image 5.
Create Shortcut On iPhone
6 | Now that you have downloaded your photo, you will need to open the ‘Shortcuts’ app. In the search bar of the app type “Open app”. You will then select ‘Open App’, just as you can see in image 6.
7 | First you will need to select ‘choose’ as you can see in image 7. Here, you will pick what app you would like to open with this shortcut. For mine, I chose the clock app.
Now, you will choose the icon with the three little dots in the top right.
8 | After selecting the three little dots, a screen like image 8 will pop up. You will need to name your icon. Then you will select ‘Add to Home Screen’.
9 | As you can see in image 9, you will need to type out how you would like the app name to appear on the home screen. I like mine to be all capital letters with a space in between. Then you will select the image next to the name where it says “HOME SCREEN NAME AND ICON”. Here, you will be able to choose the photo that you just created and saved to your phone.
Once you are finished, select ‘Add”.
10 | Voila! Your new app icon will appear on your home screen! Just like in image 10.
Now it is time to do it all over again for each app icon that you would like to appear on your screen!
Using Widgetsmith For Further Customization
You will need to download the Widgetsmith app if you would like to further customize your home screen! I use the free version, and it looks great!
I like to add one small widget and one medium widget. You can see where you create these in image 11.
There are many options of what your widget can look like. If you would like a photo, you would select the options outlined in images 12 and 13. I like to find a quote that matches the aesthetic of my background and add it as a small widget. For the medium widget, I decided to use a calendar.
After you have created your widget, it is time to add it to your home screen!
You will need to hold your finger down on your home screen until the apps start to wiggle. Then you will select the ‘+’ in the top left-hand corner. Once you do this, a screen like the one in image 14 will appear. Type in “Widgetsmith” and select the option.
Next, you will select the ‘Add Widget’ option as shown in image 15. You will need to do this for each widget that you are adding to your home screen!
After you add your widgets to your home screen, organize them however you like!
