My mom told me that she wanted picture frames that had each of her grandchildren’s names to hang in her house. I thought this is a perfect opportunity to make some personalized picture frames! These are so cute and simple, and I just absolutely love how they turned out! How to make a personalized picture frame is a super easy DIY!

So, just keep scrolling if you would like a step-by-step tutorial on how to create these cute personalized frames!

What You Need

How To Make A Personalized Picture Frame

1 | Create A Design In Cricut Design Space

This is such a fun step! You get to decide how you want your design to look! Everyone has such a unique style, so you can completely make it your own!

I decided that I wanted to use a cursive font. When using vinyl, I have noticed that it is easier to use fonts that are a little on the thicker side. I always rip those thin fonts! I looked for a beautiful font on a free website to download and use. This is the font that I chose to use!

An important step is to measure your frame, and determine where you will be placing the name or phrase that you are printing. I wanted my names to be centered at the bottom of the frame. Since the names I was printing were different lengths, I made sure they were all the same height to make it more cohesive looking.

Once you have your letters just how you want them, make sure that the operation is set to basic cut. Now it is time to click “Make It” in the top right-hand corner!

2 | Place Vinyl Onto Standard Grip Mat

I like to look at this next screen to determine how much vinyl I need to use for the project. I cut the vinyl at 3 1/2 inches, so I would not waste any product.

Now that your vinyl is cut to the right size for your project, it is time to place it onto the standard grip mat. Try to get it on there as straight and smooth as possible.

Next, on your computer, you click the green “Continue” button on the lower right-hand side of the screen.

3 | Load Mat Into Cricut Machine

Make sure your Cricut is powered on. Cricut Design Space will have you connect your machine to the computer, and tell you everything you need to do to create the project successfully!

Now, you can load your mat into the Cricut machine! Just place it at the entry and push the arrow button and it will take it in.

4 | Start Cutting!

Once your mat is loaded into the machine, it is time to start cutting! Push the button with the “C” Cricut logo on it and the machine will start cutting away!

Depending on how big your project is will determine how long this will take!

You will get a notification on Cricut Design Space when your project has finished cutting. Push the arrow buttons and your material will unload!

You Are Half Way There!

6 | Pull Vinyl Off Mat So Only Letters Are Left

Now, it is time to pull off the vinyl! This part is so satisfying to me! Be careful when you are pulling off the vinyl, you want all of the letters to stay on the mat.

7 | Use Weeder Tool To Pull Off Rest Of Vinyl

Next, it is time to get all of the little extra pieces of vinyl off your letters. These are usually inside the “O’s and A’s” and any other loopy letters!

8 | Place Transfer Tape Over Letters

Once your letters look exactly how you want them to, I like to take an Exacto knife and cut the individual words out, so they are separate and not just on one big sheet.

Then you are able to pull the individual words off the mat.

Now you are ready to place the transfer tape over your letters!

9 | Place Your Letters Onto Frame

Make sure you have a clean surface to work on! I cleaned my frame with some glass cleaner and made sure it was dry before I placed the names onto it.

The measurements that you did earlier will come in handy now! I used a dry erase marker to mark on the frame where the center was. I then marked the center on the name I was placing onto the frame. This made it so easy to line up the name and place it exactly where I wanted!

Peel your transfer tape back carefully, making sure each letter remains on the tape.

Once you place your letters onto your frame, use your Cricut tools scraper to push the vinyl onto the glass.

Now, pull up the transfer tape carefully making sure the letters remain on the glass! Sometimes I have to use the scraper a little more.

Voila! You Have A Personalized Picture Frame!

There you have it! A personalized picture frame! I love how cute and simple this DIY project is!
