Are you having a baby? If so, congratulations! That is so awesome! Having a baby is such an exciting time but it can also be a super stressful one. Once I was pregnant, I was looking at all the things that a baby needs. And man it was a little overwhelming! There are so many baby things out there! But figuring out what we would actually need and what would work for the baby was my ultimate goal! So, through some research and asking around to see what has worked for other parents, I have come up with baby registry must haves for new moms!
Baby is now a couple of months old, man how time flies! But I can say that we use these products and love them! Hopefully, something that works for us may work for you!
Baby Registry
Okay, so first things first, it is probably a good idea to create a baby registry. There are so many great options of places where you can have your registry!
I went with the Amazon baby registry and it has been the best! It is also super convenient, especially because of COVID. It is a safe way for friends and family to shop, especially when they do not want to go out to the stores.
Plus, if you do not have Amazon Prime, I would highly suggest looking into getting one! We have been using ours for years and I think it is so worth the membership fee!
Some benefits of an Amazon baby registry are…
- It is super easy to set up!
- Amazon has so many products, they literally have everything you could ever want and more!
- You can see your registry, update, remove, and add new items.
- You can see when something has been purchased.
- There is a free gift!
- Anything that was not purchased on your registry, you can buy with a 15% discount if you have Amazon Prime. (10% otherwise)
Now, let’s get to the fun part! What are those must have items for your baby registry? Just keep reading to find out!
Baby Registry Must Haves For New Moms
Nursery
1 | Fall River Convertible Crib by Serta
When choosing a crib, it was so important to me to find one that would be safe for the baby! Along with safety, another important factor was for the crib to be convertible, so that it could last several years as baby grows.
The Fall River Convertible Crib by Serta fits the bill! The crib is JPMA certified where it meets and exceeds the safety requirements of today’s marketplace. The crib also comes in a few colors to fit in with any nursery theme you may have in mind!
Other cribs I love!
Delta Children Essex 4-in-1 Convertible Baby Crib
Storkcraft Santa Monica 5-in-1 Convertible Crib
Delta Children Emery 4-in-1 Convertible Baby Crib
2 | Baby Monitor
Another baby registry must have for new moms is a baby monitor! This is super important for me, so I can watch baby while they are sleeping in their room!
This baby monitor has a very clear image and the camera can be rotated to see most of the room! It also has a night time mode, so baby is always visible! The baby monitor also has a microphone where you can communicate with baby.
3 | Newton Crib Mattress
The Newton Crib Mattress is one of the very best mattresses on the market! I did a lot of research while choosing a crib mattress, safety is my number one priority! The Newton Crib Mattress is very high on my baby registry must haves for new moms list!
This crib mattress is 100% breathable and that helps me to have so much peace of mind when baby is sleeping! The Newton Crib Mattress is a little bit on the pricier side however, with the safety features that it has I think it is totally worth the price! Plus, you can always find a coupon code online to save some money.
4 | Aden & Anais Snuggle Knit Newborn Swaddle
After using some different swaddles, the aden & anais brand is definitely my favorite! This particular swaddle is so soft and cozy, and its pretty large, so it works very well as baby grows!
5 | White Noise Machine
This white noise machine is small and so portable. It’s so perfect! The sound machine helps to replicate the sounds that baby hears in the womb to help them sleep better.
6 | Changing Pad
I’ve seen on a lot of different registry lists that say you do not need a changing pad. Now, I do agree that you do not need a changing table, but the changing pad has been a life saver! We just put it on top of baby’s dresser and it helps a lot with diaper changes.
7 | Swivel Reclining Glider
I highly suggest registering for a rocking chair of some sort! I love this chair because it rocks, glides, and reclines. It is super comfortable, and I love to use it not only for feedings, but also to rock baby. Plus, this chair works well for taller people!
8 | Laundry Hamper
A place to put all those cute little dirty clothes! I love this hamper because it is cute and goes well with the baby’s room and decor!
Feeding
1 | Grass Drying Rack
This drying rack is super good to dry all your baby items! Whether that be bottles or pumping parts, it is good for everything.
2 | Bibs
I think it is good to register for some bibs. Silicone bibs like this one are great for when baby starts to eat solid foods. It may also be worth registering for cotton bibs, to help keep clothes clean from drool and perhaps food as well. These ones are super cute!
3 | High Chair
You may not need a high chair for a little while, but it is a good thing to have for when that time comes! This high chair has so many good reviews!
4 | Bottles
However you plan on feeding your baby, it is a good idea to have some bottles on hand! Registering for different sizes, so you have bottles that you can use as baby grows!
5 | Pacifiers
The MAM pacifiers have such rave reviews and our baby loves them. They are said to be very good for babies who nurse, so that’s a plus!
6 | Boppy Nursing Pillow
This pillow has been a LIFE SAVER! It makes feeding baby so easy and my arm is not dying! Plus baby will be able to use the pillow as they get older to sit in and do tummy time. Multifunctional products are always my favorites!
7 | Manual Breast Pump Milk Saver
If you plan on breast feeding, this may be something to consider registering for. Especially in those first few weeks after your milk comes in you may be leaking a lot, and this can help save some of that milk that you can feed baby with at a later time with a bottle!
Clothing
1 | Zip Up Sleepers
These pajamas are a must have in my opinion! I love these fleece ones for after bath time! The Carter’s brand has such a variety of options with different patterns and styles to best suit your personal needs!
2 | Baby Beanie
Little baby hats are a great thing to have on hand! We used these so much when we first brought baby home. Heat escapes from their head, so having a cute little hat helped to keep baby warm and comfortable!
3 | Hangers
If you plan on hanging up any of those baby clothes, hangers are a great thing to register for! These hangers are great for those little clothes! I also love these if you prefer to use velvet hangers!
4 | Halo Sleepsack Swaddle
We love to use the swaddles that have velcro! The Halo Sleepsack is a great option! It helps baby to feel secure without the hassle of swaddling them the traditional way. I would personally put different sizes of these on your registry, so that you have one as baby grows. Plus, as baby begins to roll over, you can keep their arms out of the swaddle!
5 | Socks
I like to have some practical socks on hand to keep those little feet warm!
6 | Onesies
You can never have too many onesies! Clothes are probably the most popular gift, and it is good to give people an idea of what kind of clothes you would prefer to have!
7 | Headbands
Since I was having a girl, headbands were a must for me! These are super cute and stretchy, so they will grow with baby!
8 | Outfits
As I said earlier, clothes were the most common gift that I received. Most of the time they were outfits that were not on the registry. But I thought it was a good idea to put a few cute outfits that I would like to get for baby.
If no one gets those cute outfits, you can always use your discount later on if you really want to get them!
Travel
1 | Baby Carrier
I love this baby carrier! It is practical and is so easy to use! I will say with this type of carrier, it does not really pack well. Maybe I just don’t know how to fold it down right! However, baby likes to be in the carrier and it is so nice to be able to use both of my hands while using it!
2 | Boba Wrap Baby Carrier
This carrier is also so nice! The Boba Wrap baby carrier is more difficult to put on than the other type. However, once you get the hang of it you can do it pretty quick. I prefer this carrier to use at home, but it is also great to take out as you can fold it pretty small and fit it into the diaper bag.
This carrier is also great because you can use it from birth! There is no minimum weight requirement!
3 | Diaper Bag
This diaper bag is awesome! It has so many compartments to keep everything in! I love when things are organized, so this bag is great! The diaper bag also comes with a changing pad, so that is super handy for diaper changes on the go!
4 | Car Seat Cover
I do not leave my house without a car seat cover! These things help to keep baby protected not only from the sun, but from strangers as well. Especially with COVID going on, this cover acts as a mask for the baby to keep them safer!
5 | Baby Lounger
Every baby registry I seem to find mentions that you should get a Dock-A-Tot lounger. This baby lounger from Amazon is a perfect dupe! It is way cheaper and works very well in my opinion.
My baby loves this lounger! It helps her to sleep better, as she feels more secure!
6 | Car Mirror
This is a great car mirror so that you can see baby while you are driving! It hooks onto the headrest of the chair and can be adjusted to whatever angle works best for you!
7 | Pack and Play
Personally, I did not see the point of getting a fancy bassinet when baby will only be using it for a short time. So, I registered for this pack and play that comes with a bassinet attachment. It works really well and since the pack and play is light weight, it is easy to pull closer to me when I need to reach baby.
Also, the pack and play will grow with baby, which I love. It is also great to have when traveling, as you will have somewhere for baby to sleep.
8 | Car Seat and Stroller Combo
The car seat was another item that I was really concerned with getting. Of the baby registry must haves for new moms, this was number one on my list! I wanted to make sure that I got the best and safest option for baby. This car seat and stroller combo fits the bill! This car seat has so many good reviews and it keeps our baby safe, which is my first priority!
Car Seat and Stroller for Baby #2!
Health & Safety
1 | Diapers
I would highly suggest registering for diapers or having a diaper raffle at your baby shower! You can never have too many! Whether you want to use disposable or cloth diapers, they are definitely high on the list for baby registry must haves for new moms! I know I am so grateful to everyone who helped us with diapers, so we wouldn’t have to buy any for a few months after baby was born!
2 | Diaper Caddy
The diaper caddy is a super convenient thing to have! I like to keep diapers and wipes in it and put it in my bedroom! Then I don’t have to go to the nursery to change diapers in the middle of the night!
I think this would also be super useful to have if you have a two story house! Then you wouldn’t have to go up and down the stairs each time baby needs a diaper change! Plus, you can keep extra clothes and other items in there as well!
3 | Grooming Kit
This grooming kit was perfect for us! It has everything that we need to keep baby fresh!
4 | Wipes
Along with diapers, I would suggest registering for wipes! You can never have too many of those as well!
5 | Nose Frida
Okay, so this is one of the best inventions ever! This little tool gets those pesky buggers out of those little noses so easily! Now I know it seems a little weird sucking those out with your own mouth! But I promise you will not eat them!
6 | Bath Time Essentials
Registering for an all in one bath time package will help you out for those first few months! I know a lot of people like the Johnson’s brand, however I have come to find that my baby reacts much better to the Aveeno brand! It doesn’t have fragrance, which helps my little one’s skin!
7 | Thermometer
I love having this thermometer! It is so much easier to take a quick reading on the head than having to wait for the armpit ones. And less crying, which is a plus!
This ear thermometer is great too!
8 | Tub
This tub has been a life saver! It grows with baby which I love! The bath tub comes with an infant insert, so you can use it right from the beginning!
9 | Hooded Towels
I love using hooded towels after baby gets out of the bath! It helps to keep her warm while I dry her off and put lotion on! Also, these washcloths are so amazing and super soft!
10 | Baby Gate
I like this baby gate because it stays in place and is secure!
Play
1 | Play Mat
A play mat is a great thing to register for! We love to use ours for tummy time, and baby likes to lay on her back and look at the toys as well!
2 | Soft Blocks
These blocks are a great toy to register for to help with development! I would suggest registering for different toys that you think baby will like!
3 | Sassy Developmental Bumpy Ball
Here’s another toy that I love that will help with babies development and learning the different senses.
4 | Teething Keys
I think having teething toys on hand will come in super helpful when baby begins to start teething. Anything to help soothe those little gums!
5 | Bath Toy Organizer
This bath toy organizer is awesome! I love that it comes with the toys and the organizer sticks right onto the bath wall!
6 | Activity Center
I believe that an activity center is a great thing to have when baby gets a little bigger! It’s a great learning tool as baby grows!
7 | Baby Books
I want to share my love of books with baby, so I registered for a few that we can start reading early on!
8 | Bouncer
We love this bouncer! It has a vibrating function that helps to soothe baby!
